We are thrilled to announce a new youth program at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church for students in grade 7 to grade 12. We have chosen the name Lucent, which means illuminating, brilliant, shining, because it is our aim to inspire youth to let their light shine as they are illuminated by the light of God. Our mission statement is as follows:Lucent exists to provide a space to inspire wonder, perceive grace, learn scriptures, be nourished by this faith community and experience God, so that youth may live lucently in the light of Christ. For more information or if you want to grab a coffee and chat, contact: Katherine Knoke, Director of Youth Phone: 416-925-5977 ext. 228 Email: katherineknoke@temc.ca

EL HOGAR PROJECT
The TEMC El Hogar Project is a combined youth and adult mission sponsored by Ministry with Teens. Each mission trip consists of a work team of 14 hard-working and committed volunteers who travel to the El Hogar Orphanage in Tegucigalpa, Honduras for a week long stay as they contribute to the expansion of the orphanage, technical school or farm through special construction projects. In the evening, the team supervises crafts and activities with the children at the orphanage. If you would like further information on El Hogar, please contact Joanne Leatch.
Please view and enjoy these photos from our August 2008 trip.
SPIRIT EXPRESS
For almost two decades, TEMC’s teens have participated in Spirit Express – an annual musical theatre program involving weekly practices/rehearsals throughout the school year and culminating in three or four performances, usually in April.
Spirit Express has welcomed all teens, whether members of TEMC or not, and has been an excellent outreach opportunity for TEMC, connecting with not only teens, but also their families and friends, and inviting and welcoming them to TEMC.
These teen productions have resulted in a legacy and history that spans two generations. The enthusiasm of TEMC’s youth and their families who have participated in Spirit Express cannot be over-stated. Spirit Express has been a seminal activity for many of TEMC’s young members and has resulted in strong and lasting connections both to TEMC and their peers. The productions have given the teens an opportunity to grow, both personally and spiritually, in protected surroundings, and have provided a supportive and nurturing environment for the teens during what can be tumultuous years.
WOOD WORKSHOP
This program will give young adults a chance to learn and perfect the craft of woodworking. Projects will include building sets and props for the Christmas Pageant as well as special building projects for other church ministries.
