Chris Miller

Rev. Chris Miller - Minister of Pastoral Care

Chris was born and raised in Toronto. He received a Batchelor of Arts in English and Philosophy from the University of Toronto and a Master of Divinity at Canadian Theological Seminary (in Regina), an affiliate with the University of Regina. He has also completed Conflict Resolution Certification from Conrad Grebel College at the University of Waterloo.

Chris brings a wealth of experience in various ministry and leadership contexts to the position of Minister of Pastoral Care. Ordained in 1977 in Saskatchewan, he has ministered with United churches in Saskatchewan and Ontario. He has been involved with the United Church’s courts as chair and secretary of presbytery and on various committees of presbytery and conference. As well, he was a Commissioner to General Council 2003.

Chris has also served as a chaplain with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, the Princess Margaret (Cancer) Hospital, and  Bridgepoint Health (as coordinating chaplain), a 464-bed complex care and rehabilitation centre in Toronto. Within the church setting, Chris has been the coordinating chaplain for the Toronto Conference of the United Church and served as a “chaplain to chaplains.” He brings a compassionate understanding of pastoral care to persons of every age and circumstance on their life’s journey.

Chris is an avid reader of both “real books” (that’s how his wonderful wife Margaret describes their home library) and ebooks! He loves his three grandchildren, singing in a community chorale, golfing and rooting for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays!
