Bethel Series

Timothy Eaton Memorial Church has offered Bethel since 2003 with a total enrollment of over two hundred people. Students of past classes have commented about how interesting the readings have been and it has provided them with a new level of understanding. The regular readings require dedication as the whole Bible will be read within six sessions. However, the growth in knowledge of the foundations of our faith is incredibly beneficial.

The Bethel Series program was developed Harley Swiggum in 1961 when he was assistant pastor of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison, Wisconsin. Since then, more than 6000 congregations have enrolled and more than one million people have graduated from the courses.

This two year adult education program provides an overview of the Christian Scriptures and seeks to introduce the canon of scripture as a whole, from Genesis through Revelation, and thus helps build a strong foundation for Biblical understanding.

A former Bethel Coordinator at TEMC said, “My participation in The Bethel Series strengthened my faith. I gained a significant amount of biblical knowledge and understood better how God is a part of everyday life. The series showed me how much God has been, and continues to be, a part of my life.”

“I am profoundly grateful that I enrolled in Bethel Bible at TEMC. Gradually, the Scriptures have become exciting and alive. Best of all, it has become relevant to my daily life. Through Bethel, as I studied with my classmates, I have come to understand, in a deeper way, what it means to be a member of a Christ-centred community.” - Bethel Student
